The IEEE Standard 1547-2018 has changed testing standards for critical power-generation systems. This revision attempts to specify safe, reliable, and cost-effective interconnection requirements for distributed energy resources (DER), while providing a widely-accepted technical basis for regulatory proceedings that can be flexibly adjusted to regional differences.
To create these harmonized interconnection requirements there have been changes to interconnection, interoperability, and relay testing standards, the addition of new technical requirements for DER integration, and an added emphasis on commissioning processes.
