Google is considering a new potential data center site, which is currently a silicon plant in Clarksville, Tennessee. The building, although new, was never officially launched because of an oversupply of material.
This site is presents an advantageous opportunity because of its accessibility to power and available infrastructure to deliver that power. This site in particular already has an electrical substation, according to Data Center Knowledge.
Google has repurposed facilities before in Finland and in Alabama. In Finland, the power and cooling infrastructure allowed Google to repurpose the facility for its new data center. In Alabama, Google did the same with a former coal power plant.
