At Power-Gen International, a conference for power generators, a preview of major changes to come for the future of the the U.S. electricity sector was shown.
Keynote speakers showed contrasting perspectives on how some industry players are moving ahead to incorporate more clean energy while others are still debating whether or not to break away from using coal. The focus of the whole conference itself has been around this issue.
Among other discussions at the conference were topics on Ohio’s fight over aging power plants, as well as the questionable continuation of California’s overgeneration problem, according to Utility Dive.
Power-Gen implemented new changes to the conference this year. The focus of the generation industry shifted as the power sector is focusing more on renewables and energy storage, Utility Dive reports. The rise of clean technologies also has a greater presence than it has in years past.
