Ericsson and Cisco Systems created a global business and technology partnership. These two companies will focus on combining services from Cisco’s IP equipment and Ericsson’s operations support systems. The relationship between these companies will offer customers the best of both worlds. As the partnership progresses, both companies will develop platforms and other systems for the Internet of Things.
“This is an exciting partnership that will drive growth, accelerate innovation, and ensure rapid deployment of the digital transformation demanded – and – needed by customers across industries. With the future networks we develop with Cisco, Ericsson will continue to shape the Networked Society,” Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg wrote in a recent blog post.
Thus far, this conglomerate has received positive feedback from customers such as AT&T, Vodafone, and Verizon. This partnership comes at a time of heightened competition among the bigger technology companies in the world market. Both companies will generate at least $1 billion in revenue by 2018.
This alliance will push both companies to develop new products to prepare for many changes in the networks operated by mobile carriers.
