Recently, Forsythe Data Centers, a Retail+® facility offering private, secure data center suites, along with hosting, strategy and other data center related services, achieved Uptime Institute Tier III Certification for Constructed Facility – a true accomplishment in the data center industry. This accomplishment came ahead of the suburban Chicago facility’s June 24 grand opening, according to an article from Data Center Knowledge.
For this project, ComRent’s team of expert data center professionals partnered with Forsythe Data Centers not only to help them achieve this goal, but also to provide them with all of the load banks and equipment necessary to achieve a successful test of their new facility.
Since the Tier Certification of Constructed Facility process includes load-bank demonstrations under real-world conditions, ComRent was eager to jump to the task to help Forsythe Data Centers achieve this status.
Forsythe Data Centers, whose parent company has been in business for more than 44 years, helps clients to plan, test, procure, build, migrate, house, manage—and even finance—the infrastructure to go inside their data center suite. Forsythe continues also to provide its full capabilities, on- or off-premise, to clients across North America.
Located in Elk Grove, Illinois, Forsythe Data Centers is a 221,000-square-foot facility with 30 MW of critical IT load. In addition to its client-controllable “data center within a data center” suites and hosting services, the new facility is home to Forsythe’s Technology Evaluation Center and the Forsythe Integration and Configuration Center. These centers enable clients to evaluate innovative new technologies before they buy them, and have them tested and configured before they are installed.
This specific project highlights the
Achievement of Tier III Constructed Facility is all the more impressive, especially as it has become increasingly difficult and more time consuming to obtain Constructed Facility than Design Certification.
The new facility is one of only two in the state of Illinois to achieve this certification and is one of fewer than 50 in the country.
“Any design can be defeated during construction and testing,” said Julian Kudritzki, COO of Uptime Institute. “Forsythe has achieved Tier III Certifications of Design Documents and Constructed Facility, demonstrating ‘truth in certification’ through rigorous planning, execution, and system testing.”
Forsythe and many companies similar to theirs have also made a big investment in owning their own fiber into their cities, according to the article from Data Center Knowledge.
